Rabbi David Gruber, an eighth generation rabbi, was born in Evanston, Illinois. He grew up in Israel, where he served in the IDF Armored Corps, and received his rabbinic ordination from the Chief Rabbis of Israel. He holds a B.A. in history, and an M.S. in Educational Leadership.

He has served in educational and religious leadership positions in the Jewish community in Israel, New Zealand, and the United States.

Though Rabbi Gruber used to be Orthodox, he now sees himself as a Jewish secular humanist, and as such he officiates interfaith weddings.
